Welcome to the one of the most unique places in Rotterdam! Designed by Dutch architect Piet Blom, this residential complex is literally composed of cubes tilted over by 45 degrees. This results in buildings that look, feel, and behave unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere in the world.
The cube houses were designed in the mid-1970s. The whole cube house site is in fact constructed as part of a pedestrian bridge, crossing a road. In fact, the original inspiration to the idea was coming from the famous Ponte Vecchio in Florence, Italy. The architect's idea was to create a structure resembling a forest, where each cube would represent a tree and they together would resemble the forest.
